Book Feature: Paragraph Gay Fiction Quarterly
Paragraph was a gay fiction journal, published “quarterly” by the Antares Foundation for a very short time: 1978-1979. In reality, the above issue (issue number 2), published in 1979, was the last.
The editor, N.A. Diaman, is still an active author and artist. He was involved with the Gay Liberation Front in San Francisco in the 1970’s and also founded an independent video production group, Queer Blue Light.
This issue of Paragraph features short fiction by Becky Birtha, Tom Felt, Ronald Harvie, Grace Harwood, Peter Robins, and Charles C. Winecoff. The journal also features an illustration with each story. The illustration below, by Gary H. Brown, accompanied Tom Felt’s story Impressions.
It’s unfortunate that this journal didn’t last longer. It was professionally produced and well-curated; and the editor/staff seem to have been well-organized. Subscriptions were offered and submissions were still actively being sought, as of issue 2.
